Lovesong is een exclusieve Artprint, gebaseerd op een schilderij dat ik maakte voor mijn vrouw. Het is ontstaan vanuit de angst voor het moment dat we ooit afscheid van elkaar moeten nemen.

Inmiddels ben ik zestig en merk ik dat ik steeds meer op mijn moeder begin te lijken: de behoefte om de controle te behouden en soms zelfs een tikkeltje manipulatief te zijn. Toen mijn vader 31 jaar geleden overleed, was mijn moeder zo overweldigd door verdriet dat ze de eerste veertien dagen de kracht niet vond om zelfstandig uit bed te komen; mijn oom moest haar elke ochtend helpen. Nu ik diezelfde trekken bij mezelf herken, vrees ik dat het gemis van mijn vrouw mij net zo diep zal raken. Deze Artprint is een eerbetoon aan liefde in het algemeen.

Lovesong is an exclusive art print based on a painting I created for my wife. It was born from the fear of the moment we will eventually have to say goodbye to one another.

Now that I have reached the age of sixty, I notice that I am starting to resemble my mother more and more: the need to maintain control and, at times, even being a touch manipulative. When my father passed away 31 years ago, my mother was so overwhelmed by grief that for the first fortnight, she could not find the strength to get out of bed on her own; my uncle had to help her every morning. Recognizing these same traits within myself, I fear that the loss of my wife will affect me just as deeply. This art print serves as a tribute to love in its purest form.
